I just replied to a comment on Facebook and thought it would make a good Slogan for the stephoe.
STEPHOE
DOWN TO EARTH
Now taking the project forward into its 2nd phase of validation, acceptance and long term usage feedback from field trials. This is prototype 1 of 12 being manufactured at the workshop.
Finally the much awaited shots with Sir James Dyson have surfaced. These were taken in a private photo shoot for 4 selected projects that received the Dyson Bursary. The photo was taken in the Entrace Gallery of RCA where the IDE exhibition was showcased in the RCA SHOW 2011.

The project was largely appreciated by members of the Royal Family, the Royal College of Art Council members and many other visitors. I had the opportunity to present my project in person to the Duke of Edinburgh (see picture).
This project is aimed at the social cause of helping and sustaining rural farmers in developing nations. I visited Pakistan in the midst of a security crisis in order to carry out user-centred research and identify the problem. As a result, I found that farmers depend heavily on hoes to weed and maintain their crops. This is a much-dreaded activity as it leads to severe back problems, and yet the tool remains ancient and unchanged. I have designed an innovative solution, the Stephoe™, which adapts to the existing hoe but revolutionizes its use. It is a simple, effective and disruptive innovation.
The Stephoe™ will be supported by the PAS social enterprise which will aim to support rural farmers in developing countries and connect them to other people who are interested in farming and similar activities in more developed parts of the world. The sale of a Stephoe™ in the developed world will enable a rural farming in the developing world to receive a free adaptor version of the Stephoe™.
Further details will be updated soon.
